Flux

Flux is an installation create to symbolize the Nomada restaurant experience. Taking this idea of the nomadic voyage, Nomada Saldanha represents the beginning of a trip to the Nomada Group.

The Flux piece is generated through the idea of a shoal of aluminum boats that are starting a journey. Using a 3d printed model to create the first boat, it was then created a sand cast mold that allowed for mass production of the elements.

The piece consists of 3 types of elements varying the position and rotation. Each type of element shares the same general dimensions, introducing variants within the 3 types. Starting from the 0 axes of rotation, each element is welded in place with a rotation of up to a total of 25 degrees between the start and endpoint.

The variation in density between elements creates a variation in opacity between the two sides of the room.

In total there are 170 welded boats that together support each other throughout the journey.
